Rainbow Cottage is Back

Well its been a lot longer break than I thought it would be and we are not at full capacity yet but we are back in business! 

There are lots of changes afoot. My website has been updated with pics of new products. Jewellery is taking a back seat for now, although I am happy to make something if requested.

 I will be focusing on handmade, personalised collages using a variety of different things such as material, lace, beads, and if the right collage comes up maybe upcycling things like buttons, bottle tops and sweet wrappers!

This Bless collage was made as an order for my friend and cost £20

If you're interested in ordering one I can do them in a variety of sizes and styles to suit you £20 for up to 5 letters and £2.50 per additional letter. Each letter is hand cut and mounted and every collage is completely unique and individual. I will not be reusing any of the designs.

I am also working on remaking/remodeling lampshades. I am working on one at the moment using lace and beads and loving how its looking already! I'm not going to say much more as I don't want to spoil the reveal! But I will tell you its pink! I'm pretty sure I'll be keeping it and hanging it in my bedroom but I already have a couple more lampshades here so if you like it I will be able to make others. Price not yet worked out as its not finished yet.

There are 2 other things I'm planning. I would love to get into furniture rejuvenation. Taking lovely old pieces of furniture that are looking tatty, tired or are just too dark and giving them a complete face-lift using homemade Chalk Paint, Decoupage and also upcycling wherever I can. I have been following lots of blogs and reading up on this. I will be starting with small decorative items and then working up. To enable me to do more myself I want to see if I can learn some woodworking skills and will be putting that to the test on my own house first (a window seat for the conservatory) so watch this space.

Goodbye For Now

It is with a sad heart that I have to tell you of my decision to take a break from the business. My health has sadly been going downhill this year and I have been finding staying on top of the promotion of my various shops not only tiring but a bit of a chore. Sadly for all the work I've been putting in I've not had the sales to make all this effort worthwhile. This is just a temporary change. I have every hope that I'll be able to pick up the reins again in the future when my health improves. Meanwhile I am planning on doing lots of creative things just for fun like filling my new card organiser with handmade cards :-)

Now if there is anything of my stock you like now or would like to get in the future my Facebook page will remain active and you will be able to browse and buy by emailing me or leaving me a message on there. I will also be happy to make special orders so do feel free to contact me.

This gorgeous bracelet is made from real Art Deco Beads! I just love the shades and they are really glitzy catching the light as you move. I didn't want to detract from the lovely vintage beads so just crocheted them into a bangle with silver wire. I just love this bracelet!

Sunday Special ~ Gardenia Necklace

Hello! Welcome to the first week of Sunday Special! This week I am featuring my Gardenia Necklace.

This lovely necklace has hand crocheted black and white ribbon which gives it that lovely 2 tone effect. On the necklace is a chain of crocheted silver plated wire and graduated black and white beads with a lovely handmade (I believe. It's a while since I bought it) clear glass bead with lovely little white flowers dangling off the chain. Finished with ribbon crimps and a Silver plated trigger clasp. This pretty necklace is just perfect for summer :-)

So you might be wondering how I came up with the name? Well I try to tie in my names with the style of the business name. When I ran Celt Celf all my names were Celtic. This time I thought about my Rainbow Cottage garden and so I looked through flower books and chose Gardenia for no other reason than it's a pretty name :-)
